Search engines remain the starting point for millions of online shopping trips. Especially at Christmas. That's why we thought we'd put together seven essential tips to create a winning SEO strategy for this period.
DO YOUR KEYWORD RESEARCH
One of the most important things your SEO team should have done, ideally before the end of summer, is identify the popular and valuable keywords in your retail space during Q4 and the Christmas peak. And then optimize the content on your phone number product, category, and sales pages to target those keywords. Of course, there will be new keywords every season, driven by new shopping trends, new brands, and new products, so make sure that’s part of your strategy.
ATTRACT BUYERS
In addition to creating or optimizing your product, category, and holiday sale pages to target searchers with transactional intent (those whose search queries indicate they have an immediate intent to purchase), be sure to create content that attracts informational traffic. This means creating content that targets phrases like “Best Christmas Gifts for Him,” “What Kids Really Want This Christmas,” or “Top 10 Jewelry Gifts for Wife and Girlfriends.” And if you link these informational pages to your product pages, you can try to entice informational visitors into making a purchase.
You should also think about creating seasonal informational content to help attract backlinks from blogs and online publications. As you probably know, backlinks from quality websites are seen as a positive ranking signal by Google, so they will help your pages rank higher. Think about the types of seasonal content that are likely to receive media coverage and backlinks in your retail end. This could include infographics with interesting facts and data related to the merchandise you sell, such as holiday calendars, or even guest blog posts and buying guides from well-known experts in your industry.
